How to get a TIN Number if you are UNEMPLOYED?

TIN Number is required when opening a bank account especially with banks like BDO, BPI and Metrobank.

And this is the first problem that I encountered when I decided to invest in Stock Market. Whoa!!!!  Stock Market? Yes, Stock Market!

Don’t worry; investing in Stock Market is very easy….as easy as 1-2-3. I’ll post in this blog the step-by-step on how I become a stock investor.

But for now, I’ll post the steps on how I got a TIN Number even if I’m UNEMPLOYED.

Here’s how:

Upon searching the internet on how to get a TIN Number if you don’t have a company, I stumbled upon the E.O 98 made by former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada instructing BIR to give TIN Number to individual that is in need of it when transacting with different government agencies (like LTO and DFA). Then that’s it. E.O 98 is the answer to my prayer in getting a TIN Number.

The following day, I go to DFA (Marquee Mall) to get a passport application form and after getting an application form, I hurriedly fill-up the DFA form and go straight to the BIR office.  Upon reaching the BIR office, I immediately show my DFA form to the BIR staff in the lobby and told him that I need a TIN Number because I am applying for a passport. Then the staff/employee handed me a form to fill-up, it’s BIR FORM No. 1904 and ask me if I have an Original NSO Birth Certificate. Luckily, I am bringing all my documents. Then he give me a queue number for window 5 (I think), when it’s my turn, I give the DFA form, BIR FORM No. 1904 and my original NSO Birth Certificate to the staff in window 5. Then after a few minutes, he handed back the BIR FORM No. 1904 to me with the TIN Number written in red in the upper right corner of the form..

I left the BIR office with smile in my face and my TIN Number.

For my next post, I’ll show you how to invest in stock market.
